Job Title Hardware Engineer Work Location Christchurch - 1 Airfield Road JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities and Duties Participate individually and as part of an integrated project team in the design of the Company's productsEnsure allocated tasks are completed in accordance with the applicable project planTo review job processes to achieve continuous improvementTo ensure all actions are in accordance with Company proceduresTo write formal design documentation. For example, hardware requirements specifications, hardware conceptual design documentation, hardware test specifications and test reportsMaintain current knowledge within their area of technical specialisation and ensure the benefit of this knowledge is realised within their design solutionsTo undertake new technology evaluation and introduction in product designsTo accept technical responsibility for allocated design tasksTo attend and actively contribute to the effective operation of applicable design reviewsTo assist Production Engineering in the introduction of equipment into manufacture in a cost effective and timely manner Job Purpose To implement all aspects of the electronic design and development process, from initial concept through to the completion of sealed data packs Qualifications & Experience Essential Criteria: Educated to Degree/HND level in an appropriate technical subjectRelevant (>2 years) experience in embedded digital and analogue design within an aerospace/automotive/medical/safety-critical environmentFamiliar with small Microprocessor and microcontroller systemsFamiliar with Schematic design using ORCAD or similar packageFamiliar with Op Amp level analogue & DC-DC PSU designDesign for EMCSome FPGA design and simulation (eg Modelism) in VHDLFlexible and able to complete Environmental Testing to standards such as RTCA/DO-160, including detailed test specification and report writing Desirable Criteria: Experience with requirements management tools such as NA of DO-254 verification activities. Core Competencies Able to remain within annual operating budgets and achieve cost effectiveness savings where NA to undertake all activities in a disciplined and professional NA for, attend and contribute to meetings as requested, and take all follow-up actions in agreed NA be a team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate confidently and persuasively with a wide variety of NA organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines and work under NA self-motivated and the ability to work without NA as some out of hours and weekend working may be required. This position may require exposure to information which is subject to US export control regulations, i.e. the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the UK.
