The Opportunity

The APAC Tax Operations Team is accountable for managing all of the tax compliance and reporting obligations in the APAC region.

An exciting opportunity now exists for a Manager Tax Operations APAC with accountability to lead, motivate and coach a large team to ensure all compliance and reporting obligations are met.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Tax Operations APAC, your key accountabilities will include:
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Ensure alignment with and compliance to Tax function standards & processes and Group Level Documents relevant to the area of responsibility
  • Manage, implement and deliver against regional and country specific tax strategies
  • Compliance with all tax return and local external reporting obligations
  • Completion of Iron Ore and Olympic Dam tax accounting and reporting tasks within the Tax Risk & Reporting and Business Finance Period End Close process
  • Partnering within the Iron Ore and Olympic Dam Assets to ensure they understand the drivers of tax impacts to their Assets and that returns and reporting accurately reflect outcomes
  • Partnering with Tax Advisory, Tax Risk and Reporting, Transfer Pricing and Indirect Tax to ensure tax risks are identified and communicated on a timely basis and to ensure agreed tax positions are properly reflected in returns and reporting
  • Management of the taxation aspects of the Iron Ore JV owner relationships
  • Management of overall tax compliance processes within Iron Ore and Olympic Dam including insource and outsource service providers
  • Support Senior Manager Tax Operations APAC with the management of relationships with Regional Tax Authorities relating to tax return filing
  • Support the Senior Manager Tax Operations APAC in leading a culture of standardisation, continuous improvement, collaboration and innovative thinking within the Tax Operations team and more broadly across the global Tax function
  • Support the execution of relevant strategies, plans and cost, budget, and performance targets, ensuring that staff understand key Regional and Global Tax priorities

Skills & Experience
  • Tertiary level qualification in finance or relevant field
  • CA/CPA desirable
  • Extensive practical experience with finance and tax compliance processes within a highly complex multinational business
  • Experience leading a team to deliver accounting and governance processes
  • Sound experience managing and implementing process development and improvement activities including exposure to transformation in a finance or tax environment
  • Specialist knowledge of income tax, fringe benefits tax, goods and services tax and WA mining royalties.
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS and financial accounting
  • High level MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • SAP platform experience desirable
