Job Description:

We are looking for a seasoned Operations Manager, Major Projects to oversee operations and growth of the Major Projects division in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and South Western Ontario (SWO).
The NA to and under the direction of the Executive Vice President, and as a key member of the leadership team in Toronto, the Operations Manager, Major Projects will be responsible and accountable for managing operations and financials (including profit and loss statements), identifying business development opportunities, building and sustaining strong client relationships, sourcing, growing, developing and empowering a team of 'A' players, and growing our presence and reputation in the Toronto market.

Key Areas of Accountability
Leadership & Management

Promotes a culture that reflects our values, encourages excellence in performance, and rewards productivity. Ensures alignment of talent and company culture with business goals and objectives.
Establishes, engages, motivates and energizes a cohesive, capable team. Shapes the development and growth of talent within the organization and aggressively and persuasively recruits new talent, clearly communicating the vision, goals, opportunities and direction of the division.
Provides leadership and management to ensure teams are meeting or exceeding performance targets and expectations, in accordance with established company policies and procedures.
Manages workforce (growth) planning, talent and performance management, learning and development, employee engagement and organizational change initiatives.
Applies and develops knowledge of competitors, industry changes, and business trends, ensuring the application of the best operational practices.
Ensures active and timely leadership in the resolution of operational challenges and the deployment of the continuous improvement programs.
Evaluates employee and business performance, identifies and implements targeted initiatives to achieve successful operational practices.
Strengthens communication and cooperation with corporate and other divisions

Strategic Project Management and Sponsorship

Leads, manages and oversees the Toronto Major Projects division to ensure that all projects are delivered in a safe, timely and profitable manner while maintaining the highest level of quality and integrity in the industry.
Acts as the Lead Sponsor for multiple projects simultaneously from due diligence to completion, and continually endeavors to raise our standard of quality while maintaining competitive budgets and schedules.
Identifies compelling business opportunities in the marketplace, and strategically manages and aggressively pursues new business. Must have both eyes on the future to develop long-term strategic plans to ensure continued growth for the division and its employee shareholders.
Acts as the ambassador of the division, both internally and externally. Works seamlessly with all Toronto divisions and partners to grow our bottom line by providing best in class service proposals and growth of our maintenance base.
Builds, manages and improves client partnerships and relationships to support growth plans and ensure the success of Toronto and project teams.

Financial Management

Under the direction of the Executive Vice President, develops, and manages the annual budget that supports the operating plans and financial goals of the company.
Manages allocated resources prudently and within budgetary guidelines in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Provides prompt, thorough and accurate financial reporting, KPI analysis and project P&L information to keep the Executive Vice President appropriately informed of financial health of the Major Projects division.
Negotiates, monitors and manages the company's financial liabilities arising from each project's contractual obligations.
Oversees strategic management of operations to ensure that projects are completed profitably, while providing a consistently high level of customer satisfaction.
Manages and oversees the prefabrication shop and ensures it is operating optimally and to it's full potential.

Qualifications & Success Profile

Post-Secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering/Construction or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
15+ years' related work experience in progressively senior level projects and demonstrated success on large scale, complex projects.
Proven knowledge and understanding of both the mechanical and business side of construction.
Well developed leadership and interpersonal skills capable of building strong working relationships and motivating people and cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and constructively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
You have a bias for results and action, excellent communications skills, and an approach that earns trust and respect.
You exhibit a capacity for strategic leadership, creative change management, and innovative thinking.
You are down to earth with strong client focus, an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for and commitment to growing the business.
