About the Role: This Water Quality Advisor role has a regional responsibility for delivering improved distribution water quality compliance and customer acceptability through pro-active and reactive management. The role requires the provision of technical advice and direction to distribution operations and liaison with operational and performance teams. The successful candidate will actively monitor trends and identify actions and solutions to prevent deterioration in water quality. Whilst following standard root cause analysis procedures, you will also own and deliver company-wide water quality improvement projects, including DSR inspection programmes and ownership on innovations projects.
A key aspect of this role is providing technical expertise on water quality distribution issues, whilst also being responsible for a specified geographical area ensuring you pro-actively monitor bacteriological, chlorine and THM performance, act on a deterioration and identify track actions to resolution. Furthermore you will run cross functional monthly quality performance meetings, alongside ensuring you understand, set and review chlorine targets within your area, investigate the root cause and drive solutions for water quality sample exceedance, and direct the Asset Management Capital teams in the promotion water quality investment schemes.
About You: With a good level of understanding of Water Distribution and Water Quality customer complaints, the successful candidate will have excellent numeric and analytical skills, alongside a high standard of written communication. Likewise, you will have good IT skills, including experience in spreadsheets, and graphical interpretation alike.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present information and communication technical water quality issues to a varied audience is key to being successful in this position, as well as good interpersonal skills and he ability to effectively influence the opinions of others.
You will be able to work with minimum supervision, particularly whilst using your own initiative to drive and deliver solutions. You will also be organised, with good meeting management skills and the ability to foster collaborative working across departments and within the Water Quality team. Also desirable are project management skills, as well as the ability to both develop and improve process and procedures.
