Purpose of Role
The Finance department provides financial and budget planning, analysis and management across the business groups of Carillion. Supporting the Finance Director in ensuring the financial performance of the business is reported in a timely and accurate manner providing information key to the decision making across the business. The role will interface with the business units and overhead functions to ensure process and procedures are followed while supporting the business with their requirements to meet their both short and long term strategic objectives, customer requirements and growth targets.

Principal Accountabilities
To take a lead role within the Carillion Group Finance team and contribute significantly towards the timely delivery of monthly management reporting, budgets, forecasts and cash reporting and interim and year end audits. : Production of consolidated Group management accounts Production of consolidated Group budgets and forecasts Oversee production of fortnightly consolidated Group cash reports Develop productive relationships with the wider Group finance community Provide assistance with interim and year end audit exercises Contribute to continuous improvement of Group reporting Ad-hoc tasks as and when required by the Group Accountant Ad-hoc assistance with implementation of new accounting standards

Additional Role Information
We are looking for ambitious candidates with potential to develop beyond this initial role:
  • Required Skills and Experience
  • Qualified accountant (preferably ACA/ACCA).
  • Previous experience (ideally 2 years post qualification) in a plc reporting environment (no sector bias) is essential and candidates must be fully versed in monthly management accounts, budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Role likely to be more suitable to candidates with a Big 4 training background
  • Candidates must possess excellent IT skills, particularly with MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Prior exposure to consolidation systems e.g. Hyperion/Tagetik is desirable although not essential

    Personal Qualities
  • Candidates should possess outstanding communication skills as they will be expected to comfortably nurture relationships with finance personnel at all levels.
  • Candidates will be self motivated, able to work under their own initiative and confident enough to ask questions.
  • Candidates will be team players and be prepared to “roll their sleeves up” as and when required, recognising the overall teams deliverables.
  • A positive attitude to change is essential. Carillion is an ever evolving environment and the successful candidate will be asked to respond very quickly to any changes in the expected deliverables of the team.
  • A friendly and professional demeanour is essential
