Business Development Manager - Main Contractor - Surrey
Our client a leading main contractor is looking for a Business Development Manager to join their South Eastern office. The ideal individual must have at least 10 years past involvement with respected businesses within the construction industry. The business has a strong reputation in the market especially across the commercial and mixed use/residential sectors to name just a few.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Build a qualified pipeline of sales and target customers to meet revenue and margin targets and ensure annual budget is achieved
Develop compelling solutions that can be delivered successfully to meet the needs of customers

Network effectively with new potential customers to develop relationships and business opportunities, securing meetings with key stakeholders and decision makers
Write and deliver high quality pitches and tender responses to clearly articulate the USP solution and increase conversion rates

Perform the role of 'Bid Manager' on all opportunities that have been pre-qualified, acting as the voice of the customer back into the business, communicating clearly their requirements and expectations
Execute a seamless handover to the Project Management function at the point of secured order, thus ensuring that a seamless customer on-boarding experience is achieved

Provide robust, detailed and accurate forecasts that are realistic and can withstand scrutiny and challenge

Work with the Pre-Construction Director to develop and share market intelligence and competitor knowledge to enable informed and intelligent tendering
Ensure that safe working practices are met, in line with all legislative requirements

The successful candidate should have the following experience:

For success in the role, you will be required to have a good understanding of various sectors across the construction market precisely within the commercial, education, leisure, retail and residential sectors, along with the drive and tenacity to pursue and win work, as you will be working solely to develop further business.
Generating sales
Sell and negotiate prices
Prepare contracts and close deals
Identify, meet and conclude new business deals
Convert new business opportunities and grow existing accounts in line with business objectives

NOTE: The ideal candidate MUST have extensive knowledge within the UK construction/building industry
