Company: My client is an established worldwide company providing transmission equipment to the Security, Military, Government, Transport and Utility markets. The company is now positioned for a new stage of growth and wish to appoint a Technical Support Manager who will be fundamental to that expansion in supporting customers and building an industry leading technical support service for an ever increasing product portfolio.

The company markets a wide range of Ethernet, Wireless & Cellular based networking equipment along with a range of analogue fibre optic transmission products.

Job Description: We are looking for a positive, hardworking candidate who is willing to learn and keep on top of modern communication technologies as the Ethernet & transmission industries evolve. Our company enjoys a reputation for integrity and strong technical capability and the applicant will need to be a team player who can contribute in an open environment, each person is expected to contribute, accordingly we are looking for a person with extensive Ethernet experience covering both layer 2 and layer 3 devices to a high level and with an understanding of the other complementing technologies. This person must also be capable of applying this knowledge both on site with customers (which may on occasion involve travel both within the UK and abroad) as well as in house and be able to train customers on the use and deployment of clients equipment both at our UK training facility and at the customer's premises if necessary. A key role for the successful candidate will be to improve existing technical support as well as implement new systems and methods to ensure a first class support experience for the entire customer base. The role will cover both pre and post-sales support activities as well as assisting customers with the design of potentially complex wired and wireless Ethernet networks.

Ideally the applicant should be educated to HNC level or above in a telecommunications/networking field.
Cisco CCNA/CCNP or other relevant qualifications would be a plus as would experience of the IP CCTV / Security market but is not essential.
Any foreign language skills would also be a plus but are not essential for the role.

We provide dedicated support to our customers around the world in the form of phone support, Email support and the occasional site visit if applicable. The successful candidate should be comfortable spending time assisting customers in problem solving networks over the phone and also via remote support screen sharing sessions.

Salary: £40-50k depending on qualifications & experience

Key Skills:
* A very high level of understanding of Layer 2 - Layer 3 based Ethernet technologies including VLAN's, Routing, OSPF, RIP, SNMP, IGMP, LACP, RSTP, ERPS etc.
* At least a basic understanding of wireless & cellular technologies.
* Familiar with a range of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, optical power meters & light sources, frequency counters, BERT's and multi-meters.
* Good customer facing skills.
* Familiar with Wireshark and other network troubleshooting tools and software.
* Ability to work as part of team or autonomously.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* A good understanding of server and standalone computer operating systems.
* Experience with SNMP management systems.
* The ability to train other members of the team and customers.
