Senior Engineer - Head of Engineering |
A highly profitable and established research and development organisation that has a strong history of supplying safety critical and tested products to the Rail Sector are looking to strengthen their senior engineering / management team.
The role will be accountable for the on-going engineering workflow, staff and resource management to meet internal and external customer requests in order to support the core products.
Plan and implement engineering resource to ensure delivery targets are met whilst delivering representation and visibility of the brand via on-site attendance, marketing and communications whilst also maintaining quality, productivity, safety and accuracy at all times.
• Lead the Rail Systems engineering team in alignment with the corporate global engineering policies ensuring associated regional customer mandatory standards are meet at all times for engineering within products.
• Lead the development and implementation of workflow ensuring that internal global resources and UK external support organisations are aligned to deliver works to project timeframes.
• Ensure that Customer, Legislative and Supplier impacts are monitored and planned programmes and updates are in place for associated systems and drawings.
Ensure that Supply chain is supported with relevant live access to all procurement drawings, material specifications and engineering reports at all times.
Lead product engineering to ensure that detailed mechanical designs / layouts using 3D (Solidworks) are available via modeling skills to international standards, ensuring that Statistical analyses, mathematical
modeling, testing and data analysis are correct.
Support bid evaluations including calculations to support economic evaluations.
Preparation of reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements.
Ensure all relevant HSE actions are completed where applicable.
Ensure that ISO requirements via procedures and meet are continually improved.
Weekly review meetings with the General Manager and Vice President of Engineering (or delegated representative) to update on progress.
Ensure Engineering Development Cells are maintained in good order, clean tidy and controlled (R&D stock etc).
Lead technical, customer and team meetings to resolve issues, produce minutes / reports to close all actions and record.
Compile and record for submission all costs for R&D expenditure.
Safety critical position with responsibility of ownership of design authority.
A formal qualification in Engineering HND / Degree
Good working experience of the Rail sector
Chartered Engineer Status, or eligible to become Chartered
Strong management and organizational skills
Solidworks / stress analysis to a high level
A high level of verbal and written presentation skills
Good attention to detail in investigation skills
A working knowledge ISO / Quality brief
