Systems Engineer - Peterborough - Permanent - £28-38k DOE|
Samuel Frank Associates require a Systems Engineer to join a systems integrator in the Peterborough area. The client best describes who they're looking for as an "all rounder" i.e. a Systems Engineer with experience of a range of PLC / SCADA platforms ( Siemens / Rockwell / Mitsubishi etc.) without necessarily being an expert in one/any of them.
The successful Systems Engineer will be happy to turn their hand to different systems when required. Because the company is small, the work is varied and will have the opportunity to be involved in all stages of the project life cycle. The position may also involve tasks that aren't immediately associated with a traditional Systems Engineer role such as panel wiring or making small modifications to control panels in the workshop.
The successful Systems Engineer will have an open mind and be flexible in terms of the work they're involved in with a genuine "can do" attitude. Engineers with a desire to be involved with customer facing duties such as detailing the requirement, writing the FDS, writing and commissioning the software onsite will be well suited. If you're looking for a role where you write code in the office all week every week, then this isn't the position for you!
The position will involve international site work. This could be for periods of 2-4 weeks at a time.
In summary; the role requires -
To work on a wide range of PLCs - Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi etc.
To work on various HMI & SCADA software applications from InTouch, iFix, FTView Studio ME & SE, TIA Portal, GTWorks etc.
Carry out wiring modifications in the field.
The ability to produce detailed documentation during and up to completion of the project, such as FDS, operational manuals, IO check sheets and reports.
Skills that would be nice to have but not essential include ePlan, Microsoft Office, Microsoft SQL and any other database software.
The client is based within commutable distance from Peterborough, Leicester, Cambridge, Northampton, Grantham and Kettering.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK
