Development Scientist

Salary range: £35,000 - £47,000

Based in Worthing, West Sussex

A role focused on challenging new product development within the R&D department.

We specialise in a wide range of electro-mechanical solutions such as fluid analysis equipment, mechanical analysis (condition monitoring) equipment used in detection and treatment of system wear, emission sensors, vibration sensors, and various bespoke customer products.

This position is targeted as more of a research-type-role, where someone can come in, look at a new portfolio of our products, examine and test the products to challenge them and find ways of improving design based on capabilities and the competing market. There are industry standards specific to use of these products and we want to advance our knowledge base with this market and give you the tools to champion innovation.

* Challenge, collaborate and be involved in design and development of new prototype systems
* Technical research and investigation
* Data acquisition and interpretation
* Demonstration and validation of prototypes
* Lead development activities
* Document testing, validation, work procedures, test procedures for the products

Experience & skills required:

* Physics degree
* At least 5 years industry experience, ideally in electronic system R&D
* Research and investigation skills and knowledge
* Subject matter interest in electronic measurement systems, laser counting systems, fluid analysis, hydraulic analysis or similar
* Ability to become a subject matter expert in our electronic measurement systems

Experience and skills that are desirable but not required:

* Knowledge and awareness of lubrication and hydraulic systems
* An awareness of oil, fuel and hydraulic fluid analysis
* Electronic/hardware design, development or testing skills
* Software design, development or test experience
* CAD 3D exposure or design skills
* Technical knowledge of mechanical design and drawing
* FEA and CFD simulation
