Our international client is looking to recruit a Business Development Manager to their expanding team. (Sales Engineering)

Business Development Manager Job Purpose
To support the GM in promoting sales and to represent the company in all forms of sales and marketing activity with respect to sales of rail/train equipment/contracts and any other associated depot equipment.

Business Development Manager ACCOUNTABILITIES:
*Prospect and develop sales leads with a view to proposing sales solutions that best meet the customers' requirements both technically and financially.
*Provide sales support to the GM on projects to ensure continuous communications are maintained with the customer.
*Propose and sell rail industry equipment, associated depot equipment, service contracts, chemicals and civil works with a view to achieving or exceeding sales budgets agreed at the beginning of each financial year.
*Gain knowledge and expertise of rail depot equipment as part of the general maintenance process, such as, CET systems, fuel pumping systems and lubrication systems.
*Maintain up to date knowledge of all technical aspects of the company's equipment and service with a view to portraying such knowledge to gain a competitive sales advantage.
*Maintain up to date knowledge of all competitor's equipment, service and pricing with a view to gain a competitive advantage. Communicate knowledge within the team and with equipment manufacturer as required or deemed appropriate.
*Take responsibility for costing and presenting all sales proposals to maximise profitability as per targets set and as per quality processes in place for the dept.
*In consultation with the Divisional Operations Manager take responsibility for all technical information required from sale through to installation including site check and associated documentation.
*Maintain a data base and records of all sales prospects and report progression on an as required basis in line with current reporting processes.
*Work with the GM towards developing marketing strategies and take responsibility for the formation and delivery of the company marketing budget using all available resources.
*Actively seek new products and opportunities in order to maximise the scope and sales potential in the Rail sector.

Other General Duties:
*Communicate effectively with all colleagues to ensure that work is being carried out efficiently and in a timely manner.
*To adhere to all health and safety and quality procedures as outlined in the Company's procedures.

*Sales turnover against budget as agreed in consultation with the SBDM and the Chairman and measured against monthly Company accounts.
*Sales Project Gross Profit generated against budget and reported in the monthly management accounts, to reflect all direct and indirect costs of running the projects.
*Other financial targets as set.
*Adherence to departmental quality processes.


*A proven record of selling engineering equipment and services.
*Ability to travel to customers and project sites both overseas and UK in accordance with project requirements.
*Intermediate knowledge and working experience using Microsoft Word and Excel and Project.
*Demonstrated evidence of working under pressure to stringent deadlines.
*Ability to communication effectively at all levels

*Knowledge and understanding of civil drawing

*Knowledge of working on overseas projects.

*Engineering background with sales experience
*Ability to use CAD software.

£35k per annum plus performance related bonus/commission package. Guaranteed earnings during year 1 is £40k and thereafter additional OTE of up to £10k can be earnt based on sales performance commission. + Car Allowance
