General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer (Deputy Chief Engineer) to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. Key Responsibilities
Senior Advanced Systems Engineers (Deputy Chief Engineer) analyze, design, develop and test General Dynamics Mission Systems systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort. Additional Responsibilities include formulating operational concepts; performing mission, functional, cost-benefit and risk analysis; selecting systems architecture; and preparing specifications for General Dynamics Mission Systems operating systems to ensure designs meet applicable security specifications. These individuals may also be asked to document security on both new and fielded information systems or provide accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features are considered and functioning properly.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance.

  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs.

  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.

  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.

  • Mentor Junior Engineers on the GDMS and FCS customer processes

  • Mentor Junior Engineers on the FCS product lines

  • Understanding of the Fire Control System (FCS) design, maintenance and operational use

  • Apply GDMS engineering and SP23 customer processes and practices in the execution of tasks and activities including, but not limited to, requirements analysis, design analysis, implementation, and system integration & test

  • Support the development of schedules and budgets, report status on schedules and budgets, and identify corrective actions when schedules and budgets are not on track

  • Possess excellent oral and written communications skills, supporting frequent communications within and across IPTs, and having the ability to team with multiple internal and external stakeholders will be key to your success

  • Foster team collaboration and mentoring among team members, as well as providing solutions to moderate scope and complexity, using established precedent and policies

  • Represent the IPT at the SEIT, Internal and Customer meetings

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.

The Senior Advanced Systems Engineer (Deputy Chief Engineer) position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Information Systems (CIS), Computer Engineering (CPE), Software Engineering, or equivalent experience and at least eight to ten years of related work experience. Applicants with a masters degree and a minimum of six to eight years of related experience are also eligible.

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
