General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Algorithm Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to build and further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems software systems and applications. Algorithm Engineers are responsible for the development, prototyping, analysis, and implementation of tracking, sensor netting, target discrimination, and battle management algorithms; implementing algorithms in a Matlab prototype environment; modification of the prototype to ingest early intercept tracking (and eventually advanced battle management) algorithms; performing comparative data analysis to assess algorithm performance; review of the content and details of technical products; and acting as a technical interface to MDA working level counterparts on an as required basis. Successful candidate will interface with team members and MDNT management to ensure high quality products are generated on time and within the resources available. Desired candidate will have experience with performance metrics such as TPMs and other measures of effectiveness for evaluation of missile defense algorithms.
Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of software systems and applications, and the ability to effectively manage, grow and evolve General Dynamics Mission Systems software solutions.
The Algorithm Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Information Systems (CIS), Computer Engineering (CPE), or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience and eight to ten years of related experience; or masters degree and six to eight years of related experience.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Required focused skill areas include Kalman filtering, track filtering, missile fly-out, intercept tracking, engagement dynamics, sensor netting, target discrimination, and/or track fusion. Experience with software development and data analysis in Matlab required; C, C++, and/or Fortran experience also required. Candidate should possess the ability to be part of an integrated team tasked with defining and developing an evolving BMDS Battle Management, Command & Control, and Communications capability. Candidate is desired to understand the Benchmark environment that is used to develop and test missile defense algorithms. Successful candidate will possess in depth knowledge of systems and software engineering concepts, principles, and techniques.
