General Dynamics Mission Systems has a planned future opening for a Senior Network Engineer to join the Missile Defense National Team (MDNT). This position provides an opportunity to develop cutting-edge technology in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Our GDMS employees work closely with the MDA to develop the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS); to include the deployment of the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communication (C2BMC) system. Key Responsibilities
The Senior Network Engineer will focus on the detailed design, develop, and implement the communication network design architecture to add new capabilities to the C2BMC system including, GIFC, Sensor netting, Test, Training, and Operations, and Network management. Candidate will support the national team Network development process to ensure a structured development process and the required design documentation.

Candidate may develop deliverable documents and perform document reviews. Strong teamwork, collaboration, verbal and written presentation skills are required. Some travel will be required to support site implementation, beginning with requirements gathering, and ending with implementation. Pluses include familiarity with DoD message standards (MIL-STD-3011 App C), Link 16 or Mil StD 6016 B or C, experience with multicast, high availability designs, experience with network management systems, and experience with network drawing tools such as Visio.

The Senior Network Engineer position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

The ideal candidate must have the following:

  • Must be Department Of Defense (DOD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 (or higher) compliant by demonstrating Security+ Continued Education (CE), Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Security Essentials Certificate (GSEC), Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and/or Security Certified Network Architect certifications

  • Experience with network security capabilities such as Firewalls (McAfee and Juniper), SYSLOG NG, IBM Proventia Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), web proxy

  • Must have a solid understanding of JUNOS, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) behavior, network communications and routing protocols to include Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP)

  • Experience and knowledge of Juniper network design and testing methodologies using Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls

  • UNIX, LINUX, WINDOWS, and CISCO Internetwork Operating System (IOS) experience

  • Experience problem solving and troubleshooting complex, distributed Department of Defense (DoD) systems with the ability to support software and hardware upgrades and installations

  • Ability to configure, maintain and troubleshoot CISCO network equipment to include routers and switches

The Senior Network Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software, Systems, Electrical Engineering or the equivalent and at least ten to fifteen years of related work experience. Applicants with a master's degree and a minimum of eight to thirteen years of related experience are also eligible.

Department of Defense secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
