General Dynamics Mission Systems has a planned future opening for a Information Assurance (IA) Engineer to join the Missile Defense National Team (MDNT). This position provides an opportunity to develop cutting-edge technology in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Our GDMS employees work closely with the MDA to develop the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS); to include the deployment of the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communication (C2BMC) system. The Information Assurance (IA) Engineer will work as part of an integrated information assurance team tasked with designing, engineering, testing, certifying, and delivering a secure and global Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) communications system. The candidate will utilize their in-depth knowledge of information assurance engineering, network design concepts, and software engineering design concepts, principles, and techniques to analyze, test, develop and document security and information assurance related findings. The IA engineer will utilize Security Audit tools, and administer security devices such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems to detect network attacks and identify methods for securing against potential network threats. The Engineer will prepare technical documents and present technical information assurance issues and reports to senior government and military officials. The engineer will be embedded with the IA team in Colorado supporting lab-based development and integration testing.
The Information Assurance Engineer position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.
This position description does not represent a current opening but will be used to identify candidates with skills and experience for positions within GDMS that frequently become available. Candidates who express an interest may be considered for future positions at GDMS. Years of experience will be determined based on position; anticipate requirements of 1- 10 years of experience.
The ideal candidate must have the following:
The Information Assurance (IA) Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in computer, electrical, software engineering or computer science or a specialized area, field or the equivalent and at least eight to ten years of related work experience. Applicants with a master's degree and a minimum of six to eight years of related experience are also eligible.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
