General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Network Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. The Network Engineer provides technical analysis in data network planning, engineering and design, and implements techniques and tools to improve the network. Engineers coordinate with all players to provide maintenance and troubleshoot hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as switches, routers, and firewalls. This individual is also responsible for network requirements definitions, network evaluations, network critical item tests, in addition to configuring and troubleshooting Domain Name Services and Network Time Protocol applications on the network.
Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.
The Network Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, systems engineering, or the equivalent and two to five years of related work experience; alternatively, 5 years of Navy submarine experience are highly desired. Applicants with a master's degree and a minimum of zero to two years of related experience are also eligible.
Department of Defense secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
