General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Physical Security design team as the Cyber Design Engineer. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. Key Responsibilities
This Cyber Design Engineer will be part of team performing design and test functions for various physical security functions. He or she will need to apply experience and understanding DoD Cybersecurity requirements and processes to ensure each IPT understands the requirements and controls that must be applied to the design. He or she will be responsible for guiding the design and test teams through the use of Cybersecurity tools and processes to ensure the delivered products can be sold off to the customer.

Cyber Design Engineers analyze, design, develop and test General Dynamics Mission Systems systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort. Additional Responsibilities include formulating operational concepts; performing mission, functional, cost-benefit and risk analysis; selecting systems architecture; and preparing specifications for General Dynamics Mission Systems operating systems to ensure designs meet applicable security specifications. These individuals may also be asked to document security on both new and fielded information systems or provide accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features are considered and functioning properly.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Analyze and/or administer security controls for information systems in lab and field environments

  • Ensure designs meet applicable security technical implementation guides (STIGs)

  • Conduct engineering vulnerability assessment of systems utilizing DoD approved IA tools (ACAS) and DISA STIGs

  • Identify technical applicability, remediate, support mitigation of IAVA notices and support metric reporting

  • Research, interpret, and provide technical policy guidance pertinent to information and system security

  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance

  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs

  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures

  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices

Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.

The Senior Systems Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in a technical field, preferably Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or Math and at least two to five years of related work experience. Applicants with a master's degree and a minimum of zero to two years of related experience are also eligible.

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within 24 months of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
