General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Technical Manager - MDNT to lead our team of engineers. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out critical national security missions supporting intelligence collection, processing and dissemination.
The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to design, test, and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. Key Responsibilities The Technical Manager will lead a multi-disciplined engineering team that analyzes, designs, develops and tests systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort. The Technical Manager will assist Engineering Leadership and Program Management in managing the program from a cost, staffing, execution perspective. This individual will be responsible for Engineering workload management forecasting, resource management and program growth and execution perspective in addition to their alreayd established and assigned program responsibilites.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Strong understanding of the C2BMC program and customer.

  • Conduct quarterly check-ins and performance evaluations.

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks.

  • Strong proposal experience.

  • Mindset for driving efficiencies into company processes and practices.

  • Ability to provide mentoring to junior engineers.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks.

  • Proven technical communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Organized, with the demonstrated ability to drive efforts to completion.

  • Demonstrated process compliance.

  • Demonstrated leader and team builder.

  • Understanding of workload forecasting. Manage the workload for the team.

  • Support the hiring of talent at the appropriate level(s) and skills, moving staff around as necessary to meet program demands.

  • Develop technical staff through training, mentoring, On-the-Job Training (OJT), and Knowlege Management Plans (KMPs).

Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.

The Technical Manager position requires a bachelor's degree in a specialized area, field or the equivalent and at least two to four years of management experience in a related field or demonstrated leadership to meet the managerial expectations.

Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is REQUIRED at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
