General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to build and ensure adequate functionality of various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. Key Responsibilities
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer responsibilities include research, design, development and test of electronic equipment and systems at GDMS including: communications equipment and systems, circuitry components, analog and digital computers, and control and test equipment .

Candidates must demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of electronic equipment and systems, specifically, demonstrated proficiency in:

  • Analog and digital circuit design and analysis

  • Familiarity with design, development, coding, and testing for one or more families of embedded microcontrollers and field programmable gate array (FPGA) devices

  • Strong troubleshooting ability: must be able to diagnose a problem by narrowing the point of failure sequentially through components

  • The use of specialized laboratory equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment for development, testing, and troubleshooting

  • Experience in writing specifications, requirements, and verification procedures for complex electronic systems and components

  • The use of Microsoft Office tools for preparing documents and presentations

  • The ability to clearly and professionally communicate design concepts, testing requirements and testing results to customers and management

  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.

  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.

Candidates must demonstrate a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of electronic equipment and systems, and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology. The Senior Electrical Design Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or in a specialized area, field or the equivalent and at least five years of related work experience. Applicants with a master's degree and a minimum of three years of related experience are also eligible .

U.S. Government TS/SCI/Poly security clearance is preferred at time of hire (must be capable of receiving within 24 months of hire). Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required .
