Job Summary:
Parsons Brinckerhoff, Inc. is seeking a part-time System Operator 1 for the Statewide Transportation Information Coordination Center, (STICC) in Albany, New York. The chosen candidates will work with the New York State Department of Transportation's (NYSDOT) Emergency Transportation Operations (ETO) Team. System Operators will be expected to perform a variety of functions that assist in ensuring the department's operational readiness and situational awareness.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

      • Monitor the status of the statewide transportation network and provide detailed written and verbal reports to the appropriate departmental personnel and partners.

      • Process and consolidate information received from multiple sources into clearly written situation reports.

      • Facilitate coordination between other government agencies and municipal partners during incidents and emergency activations.

      • Compose, record and post information to the department's 511 system.

      • Ensure the STICC's readiness as a coordination center during emergencies.

The STICC is an emergency operations center (EOC) that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Successful candidates will be expected to work varying weekday, weekend and holiday shifts. The ability to be flexible with your schedule, including the ability to work all shifts, is a crucial job requirement.

Job Requirements

      • Ability to multi-task and remain calm during high pressure situations.

      • Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and written.

      • Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.

      • Ability to professionally interact with all levels of management.

      • Must have an aptitude for providing excellent customer service.

      • Proficiency with multiple computer systems, including but not limited to; Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access), CITRIX, and various GIS and web-based information systems.

      • Familiarity with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the Incident Command System (ICS).

Under general supervision of the STICC Supervisor and Operations Manger.
Two years experience is desired.
Education and training.
Technical or vocational training: none
Formal education: High School Diploma or GED
Ability to read, write, and understand English.
