Purpose of the Job
To provide professional quantity surveying services and manage all the financial issues thereof.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Applications, valuations / cost value reconciliation
  • Cost control and forecasting. This includes preparing and feeding information or monthly reports regarding value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow etc.
  • Supply chain management. Including liaising clients and managing supply chain partners
  • Assisting with Risk and Value Management to optimise solution. This includes mentoring and regularly reviewing Risk and Value with the project team
  • Contract Management. This includes all relevant contractual forms, methods of budgetary control and relevant software applications
  • Prepare subcontract enquiries. This includes negotiation of and the setting up of contracts
  • Ensure all notifications/documents are kept up to date
  • Ensure all safety risk situations are brought to the attention of site management
  • Ongoing liaison with site team, subcontractor(s) and clients' representative(s)

Measurement of Effectiveness
This role will be measured by:
  • Accurate and timely provision of quantity surveying services
  • Full compliance with health and safety procedures

Budget Accountabilities
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the financial management for a section of the project

Educational, Knowledge & Experience Requirements
  • Educated to Degree level
  • Min 10 years experience as Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager
  • Working towards RICS and ICES
  • Knowledge of Project Controls including earned value and schedule risk analysis
  • Experience of working within a collaborative environment
  • Ability to use appropriate computer software and packages desirable
  • Experience in Network Rail OLE projects desirable
