The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for assisting in the financial management of the project, all the time ensuring compliance with company procedure.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include
  • Assisting in applications, valuations / cost value reconciliation
  • Assisting in collating, preparing and feeding information for cost control and forecasting as well as monthly reports regarding value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow etc.
  • Liaising with clients and supply chain partners
  • Assisting in Contract Management. This includes all relevant contractual forms, methods of budgetary control and relevant software applications
  • Ensure all notifications/documents are kept up to date
  • Ensure all safety risk situations are brought to the attention of site management
  • Ongoing liaison with site team, subcontractor(s) and clients' representative(s)
  • To provide contractual advice to the site team as and when required
  • Having the drive to develop your own professional career
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with both internal and Client staff
  • Maintaining and operating within company and Network Rail Safety Critical Procedures

Educational, Knowledge & Experience Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, including drafting of written documentation
  • Quick learner
  • Adaptable, motivated and uses own initiative
  • Able to manage a team but also work collaboratively as part of one
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Interest in technical subjects
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent
  • Working towards RICS and ICES
  • Experience in Network Rail OLE projects is beneficial
  • Knowledge of Project Controls including earned value and schedule risk analysis
  • Experience of working within a collaborative environment
  • Ability to use appropriate computer software and packages desirable
  • Experience in Network Rail OLE projects desirable
