This position is responsible for implementing and supporting the telecommunications infrastructure in the Eagle Ford field. This infrastructure includes both conventional and RF based networks located at well sites and field facilities as well as the two-way radio system including both the repeater and subscriber radio platforms. This includes the support of related Houston based infrastructure pertaining to the two-way radio system.

This position will also have responsibility to interface with Lower48 IT and Corporate IT Staff to maintain alignment with existing global standards as well as contribute to the development of new corporate standards for wireless hardware, security, maintenance and support.

Position will interface closely with the Facilities Engineering group to introduce telecommunications related design changes and providing assistance to integrate these changes into the formal facility build process. This includes the development of procedures, training and support related to the installation of the infrastructure while adhering to applicable safety standards.

This position will work closely with the corporate Network Operations Center (NOC) and the Integrated Operations of the Future (iOF) Center as needed to provide technical assistance in the event of a telecom related outage affecting service to field operations. Position will also be responsible for periodic call out support as needed for outages to critical infrastructure and will be responsible to provide follow up resolution detail.

Position will work closely with the Supply Chain group to source, procure, and receive field based telecom infrastructure as needed for project based, break-fix, and sparing procurement activities.

This position will be a member of the L48 IT Infrastructure operations team that supports Eagle Ford and will be based in Kenedy, TX.

Responsibilities include:
  • Support of network infrastructure
    • Well site LAN and communications infrastructure
    • Primary communication tower sites
    • Satellite field office network infrastructure
    • Kenedy office network infrastructure
  • Support of various wireless technologies:
    • Point-to-point microwave, both licensed and unlicensed
    • Point-to-multipoint microwave
    • 802.11 Wi-Fi
    • Mesh technologies
  • Support of field two-way radio infrastructure
    • Portable and mobile radio programming and support
    • Repeater programming and related infrastructure support
    • System coverage
    • Radio over IP (RoIP) based Dispatch system
  • Other Duties
    • Develop and provide training for installation and troubleshooting of telecom infrastructure
    • Input & maintain accurate records for network devices (Service Now)
    • Provide monthly reports of availability of enterprise network

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • 1 years of experience with Cisco IOS CLI
  • 1 years of experience with various wireless technologies including point to multi-point, point to point, and 802.11 wi-fi.
  • 1 years of experience with Ethernet switching and routing
  • 1 years of experience with SNMP based monitoring software
  • 1 years of experience with DNS, DHCP, packet capture software, IP address/subnetting, and QOS
  • Familiarity with serial communications including RS232 and RS485
  • Familiarity in microwave (licensed and un-licensed), MAS-SCADA, Land Mobile, Tower structures, FCC and FAA regulations for the before listed
  • Familiarity with site grounding standards including Motorola R56

  • 3 years’ experience with RF/Wireless troubleshooting and testing
  • Motorola PTP, CPS, Mototrbo
  • CCNA Certification
  • SmartPTT radio dispatch console software experience
  • ABB Tropos Mesh experience
  • Link-profiling and RF propagation software experience
  • Familiarity with existing and emerging cellular technologies
  • Experience with microwave link design, planning, and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of parts 90 and 101 of CFR47 (FCC regulations)
  • Report writing experience
  • Team player able to work collaboratively in an environment of mixed disciplines including field operations, I&E, contractors, and corporate engineering groups to provide reliable communications to the business
