Food Production Company JOB DUTIES- Builds competent H&S committees at bakery sites by communicating corporate procedures, coaching, training, and follow up on issues related to health and safety- Work closely with the plant's operations teams to address issues and closure of corrective action reports- Conduct internal audits and gap assessment in preparation for external audits and inspections- Proactively provides hands-on support in areas such as: industrial hygiene assessments, completing PDA's/JSA's, problem analysis/troubleshooting, risk assessments, incident investigations & interpretation of applicable legislation- Evaluates the effectiveness of workplace inspections- Assists with internal & external HSE audits & meets with regulatory agencies during facility inspections/audits as required- Acts as a resource support in the development & review of plant-specific health and safety training needs analysis. Encourages continuous learning & development of facility team members by coaching & mentoring members regularly- Attends JHSC meetings and reports concerns to the appropriate management level- Provides advice and counsel to location management teams in relation to health and safety matters- Ensure that health and safety committees are functional and act as a resource- Ensure that company health and safety management system (policies and procedures) is developed, implemented and maintained- Ensure that training matrix is established and assist in providing orientation, refresher and job specific training to all employees and arrange external trainers when required- Ensure that appropriate corrective measures are provided for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts- Manage the accident investigation program, assist supervisors in their duties and prepare incident trend reports- Coordinate company participation in WSPS safety workgroup program Requirements- Successful completion of a post- secondary program in health and safety, preferably at the Bachelor of Science degree level- Certification in Health and Safety- 3-5 years of related experience in a food production or manufacturing facility- Previous experience as an operations supervisor or manager would be an asset but not a requirement- Knowledge of Ontario health and safety regulations- Some knowledge of US regulations would be an asset- Knowledge of successful health & safety programs- Strong organizational & planning skills- Excellent analytical skills & problem solving skills- Proficient with technology- Good interpersonal & communication skills (oral & written)- Proven track record of developing team health and safety capability through working with responsible staff to accomplish results- A personal passion for health and safety
