Position Overview and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the Chauvin Asset Team by managing the execution of Facilities Capital and Maintenance projects. The Chauvin area is an oil asset producing about 10,000 barrels of medium/heavy sweet and sour oil per day primarily from the Mannville group of formations. Much of the Chauvin asset is water-flooded with opportunities for improved oil recovery. Reporting to the Team Lead Engineering in Chauvin Alberta, this role will:
  • Be accountable for safety, quality, cost and schedule performance of work in area supported
  • Maintain Team HSE/OI focus to ensure associated requirements are incorporated in design and in procurement
  • Oversee multi-discipline engineering activities to ensure green- and brown-field facilities projects are executed in a safe, efficient, cost effective and timely manner
  • Define the Project Design Basis and Execution Plan, associated cost and schedule estimates, and communicate same to all Stakeholders
  • Execute the design related portion of assigned projects within scope of practice as needed
  • Follow-up and closure on all identified risks and associated mitigation measures
  • Prepare regulatory applications and associated audit binders
  • Prepare scope of work for equipment and material RFP and scope of work for construction services
  • Evaluation of bids for procurement of equipment, materials and construction services contracts
  • Proactively monitor, analyze, forecast and adjust work activities to meet project objectives
  • Report on individual project performance (safety, quality, cost and schedule) weekly
  • Organize and lead construction kick-off meetings
  • Support construction work on day-to-day basis during execution stage and support Operations as needed during start-up
  • Provide facilities technical support for opportunity planning, evaluation, definition and execution
  • Based within 100 km of Chauvin, AB, working out of Chauvin Field Office

Education, Experience, Technical Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree and Professional Registration in Alberta (APEGA) and ability to register as a Professional Engineering in Saskatchewan (APEGS)
  • 5-10 years varied medium-heavy grade conventional oil and secondary-tertiary recovery facilities projects experience
  • Production operations experience
  • Experience with cold heavy oil production with sand (CHOPS) facilities
  • Experience with trucking terminal design projects
  • Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary design team and overseeing progress/outputs
  • Experience providing construction support

Candidate Profile
  • Demonstrated technical and leadership skills as required to successfully execute Infrastructure projects
  • Strong team work skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with discipline engineers, designers, Operations, Supply Chain Management, External Relations, and Construction Supervisors
  • Results driven self-starter comfortable to work with people having diverse technical experience, expertise and focus
