Job Purpose

To provide technical support and oversight to customers both externally and internally. Carry out investigations into issues arising from within projects and problem management of service desk calls; provide feedback to technical groups / managers within Capita Integrated Business Solutions.

To oversee complex technical implementations and upgrades to ensure that the solution delivered is fit for purpose and meets client's expectations. Management and responding to reactive support requests and tasks delegated by the Client Service Manager. Providing solutions to reactive requests, escalating issues where appropriate, ensuring that service availability and customer request commitments are met.

To take responsibility for the Technical Lead of implementation and upgrade projects

To provide mentoring for a team of consultants. To ensure that the work undertaken by the team is in accordance with departmental and company standards. Where appropriate undertake installation and investigative activities as part of the team.

Main Responsibilities

* Direct responsibility for oversight of all technical projects. Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to issue management, escalation of outstanding issues, monitoring of quality, drafting of resource allocation requests, liaison with representative of other departments and ensuring adherence to departmental procedures.
* To ensure that customer requests and issues are completed/resolved within contractual/agreed timeframes, perform systems implementation, administration and investigations in accordance with the quality procedures
* Creation and Review of documentation
* To undertake Service desk technical problem management and troubleshooting
* To provide support and assistance to colleagues and contribute to teams shared understanding of current technologies
* To escalate to management where system availability and reliability is at risk


Education to college or degree standard desirable but more emphasis will be placed on relevant experience.

Certification against Oracle party product set in use within Capita Integrated Business Solutions product deployments will be an advantage


* Previous experience of installation and/or support of IT solutions on customer premises
* Knowledge of the following is desirable:

* Oracle E-Business Suite Support and Patching
* Oracle RDBMS Support and Patching
* Oracle OHS & WebLogic Server
* Microsoft server operating systems
* Unix/Linux operating system including shell scripting
* Windows Server administration

* Experience of IT within a Healthcare environment is advantageous
* Experience of undertaking a technical lead role within an IT team is advantageous

Technical Skills

Experience of installation, configuration and systems administration of at least the following:

* Oracle E-Business Suite database administration including OEM, OAM, PL/SQL and SQL
* E-Business Suite Apps/RDBMS Patching
* Database implementation or upgrades
* Cloning or EBusiness Suite / BI / Hyperion
* Microsoft server operating systems
* UNIX/Linux server operating systems use of OSWatcher
* Microsoft Office
* Systems Administration
* Desirable - Experience of large MS or Unix environments, SAN technologies

* Willingness to travel to Customer Sites
* Available to work outside normal office hours and at weekends
* Ability to present innovative ideas within a risk assessment framework and with consideration to the company's commercial and professional requirements
* Ability to produce high quality customer / senior management facing reports
* Consistent record of successful deployment / support of complex solutions and investigative activity covering a range of products and technologies
