Advancing People are currently recruiting for a IT Support Assistant for their client based in Flitwick. Working for this growing company, our client are market leaders in their field.|
The purpose of the role is to provide IT and communication systems, hardware and software implementation and support to their IT systems users in an efficient and timely manner.
To assist, supervise and direct external IT service providers with regards to specialist work, projects or installations as required.
To work in a safe manner ensuring IT security is maintained in the business systems.
Provide assistance to users, including remote users, in the use of the business's personal computer hardware, mobile hardware and software.
Set up, configure and administer desktop computers, peripherals and accounts assigning pre-agreed security levels and access policies.
Become "Super user" and provide user support for the MIS system and associated databases.
Test and install hardware and software
Maintain IT systems including the network, servers, individual workstations, telephones and peripherals
Design and produce interactive electronic user forms and reports both for the MIS and independent of the MIS system
Propose IT solutions to business problems as they arise
Participate in the technical aspects of IT capital investment decisions as and when required
Purchase sundries with the prior approval of the Technical Manager
Fast diagnostics/repairs to IT issues at all times
Demonstrate a willingness to learn about the existing IT systems and to pro-actively keep up to date with ongoing developments in IT
Problem-free equipment installations
Flexibility and a positive "can do" attitude
Demonstrate the ability to work as an effective hands-on team member
Experience & skills required
At least 3 years' experience of providing hardware and software support in a manufacturing environment supporting a multi-user Windows based client/server network.
Excellent understanding of Windows Server 2008, 2012 and Exchange Server 2010
Strong Windows 7, 8 and Windows 10 operating systems technical understanding
Advanced networking skills TCP/IP, Routing, VPN etc.
Proficient Microsoft Office User
Good understanding of database structures and database query language
Data analysis and report writing skills
Desirable but not essential Mac OSX and Linux experience.
In return, our client is offering an annual salary £21,000 to £25,000• Company Pension - auto-enrolled after 3 months service (currently at 1%) and the Company matches contributions up to 3% •
Holiday - 21 days holiday per calendar year, plus UK recognised Bank Holidays. 3-4 days reserved out of annual entitlement each year for annual Company Closedown.
Hours - Monday to Friday 09.00-17.15 with 1 hour unpaid lunch. There may be the requirement for very occasional weekend working (for downtime maintenance) but this would be pre-agreed along with remuneration (ie: payment of hours; fixed payment; day in lieu) •
