Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems has a planned future opening for a Network Engineer to join the Missile Defense National Team (MDNT). This position provides an opportunity to develop cutting-edge technology in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Our GDMS employees work closely with the MDA to develop the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS); to include the deployment of the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communication (C2BMC) system. Key Responsibilities
The Network Engineer will analyze, design, develop and test C2BMC networks to ensure the successful integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety, security and other requirements related to the total engineering effort. Candidate will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for integrating, testing, sustaining, and operating C2BMC networks. Candidate will be required to travel to remote locations, in and outside of the United States. Individual will be expected to perform network installations in accordance with Program configuration management processes and will work independently to perform troubleshooting and provide status updates to program personnel and stakeholders. The engineer will be embedded with the network design team in Colorado supporting lab-based development and integration testing.

The Network Engineer position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Basic Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have the following:
  • Experience and knowledge of Juniper network design and testing methodologies using Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Must be Department Of Defense (DOD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 (or higher) compliant by demonstrating Security+ Continued Education (CE), Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Security Essentials Certificate (GSEC), Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and/or Security Certified Network Architect certifications
  • Experience using protocol analyzers and sniffers, to include Wireshark, OPNET ACE Live and Guru
  • Experience in Department of Defense (DoD) authentication and encryption methods; to include experience with TACLANE, TACAS, RADIUS, Active Directory and GEM-X
  • Experience in Network Management Systems to include HP, NeuralStar and/or Solarwinds
  • Experience with Network Area Storage (NAS) and/or Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies
  • Must have a solid understanding of JUNOS, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) behavior, network communications and routing protocols to include Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP)
  • Must demonstrate network traffic analysis and troubleshooting experience
  • UNIX, LINUX, WINDOWS, and CISCO Internetwork Operating System (IOS) experience
  • Experience problem solving and troubleshooting complex, distributed Department of Defense (DoD) systems with the ability to support software and hardware upgrades and installations
  • Ability to configure, maintain and troubleshoot CISCO network equipment to include routers and switches

The Network Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Network Engineer, Computer Science, Software, or the equivalent and at least eight to ten years of related work experience. Applicants with a master's degree and a minimum of six to eight years of related experience are also eligible.

Department of Defense secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
