General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Software (SW) Developer to join the Missile Defense National Team (MDNT). The position provides an opportunity to develop cutting-edge technology in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Our employees work closely with the MDA to develop the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS); to include the deployment of the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communication (C2BMC) system. The Software Developer will be responsible for software development in the Java language for the enterprise services team. Under minimal direction, the engineer will provide specialized expertise within multiple systems, software disciplines, as well as general knowledge of related disciplines, applications implications and customer areas. THe individual will be responsible for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration and user support. The Software Developer will maintain currency, debugs and configurations related to software products. Provides operating systems planning and evaluation for performance analysis, capacity planning and hardware upgrades. The individual will work from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications and will assist with the design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs. The developer will interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, establish standards and to improve the overall efficiency of the operating system. The individual will code, test and implement tools for operations automation and will work on most phases of software systems programming applications. Occasional local and remote travel to other C2BMC development and operational sites is possible.
The ideal candidate must have the following:
The Software Developer position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Science, Engineering, or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience and at least eight to ten years of related work experience. Applicants with a master's degree and a minimum of six to eight years of related experience are also eligible.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
