General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Engineering Technician to join our Engineering team. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge equipment and systems that support some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to build and further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technologies. Key Responsibilities

The Senior Engineering Technician tests, analyzes and repairs General Dynamics Mission Systems engineering, network and telecommunications technologies, as well as other technical issues that impact operations. This individual is also responsible for the planning, build out, calibration, installation and maintenance of the organizations equipment, components, devices and systems. Senior Technicians on our Engineering team may also be asked to develop test specifications and procedures and are sometimes tasked with report preparation and documentation of technical issues.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Manage the calibration and maintenance of the organization's instruments and testing equipment.
  • This individual will also be considered the procurement specialist for the engineering team, procuring required equipment, components, devices and systems. This individual is also required to maintain detailed records for such procurements.
  • Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical and/or mechanical engineering problems are encountered before, during, and after assembly, integration or test.
  • Technician shall be able to read drawings and wiring diagrams and build to print without detailed instructions.
  • Assemble electrical and mechanical systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical/mechanical principles. Expertise using soldering irons, hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Modify prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations.
  • Strong organization skills a must.
  • Practice creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance.
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs.
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Follow industry and department policies and regulations to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of emerging technologies, and the ability to effectively develop and manage General Dynamics Mission Systems equipment and processes.

The Engineering Senior Technician position requires a technical associate degree or equivalent industrial training. A minimum of five years related work experience is required.

Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
