General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Windows System Administrator to join our Missile Defense National Team (MDNT). The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. Key Responsibilities

Windows System Administrators are responsible for supporting the overall day-to-day operations and management of the MS Windows based enterprise environment which includes active directory, database servers, application servers, web servers and other backup systems. In addition, this position is responsible for security updates and patches, antivirus definitions, as well as maintaining and deleting group policies, including user accounts and distribution lists. Windows System Administrators also configure desktops and servers to meet security requirements, create and maintain server configuration documentation, and restore, as necessary, all network data. Candidates must also ensure that disaster recovery processes and procedures are accurate and current and are complied with.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Off-site backup media storage management
  • Monitoring server capacity such as disk, CPU and memory
  • Managing and maintaining servers, to include performance tuning
  • Installing, managing and maintaining server based applications such as ClearCase, DOORS, System Architect, SQL Server
  • Managing and maintaining enterprise storage, including SAN and NAS secondary functions
  • Assist with creating and maintaining helpdesk processes and procedures
  • Managing and maintaining network switches and routers, firewalls, network printers and other duties as assigned by the IT manager
  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.

The Windows System Administrator position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Science, Engineering, or Software Engineering or equivalent experience with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related master's degree.

Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is REQUIRED at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

The ideal candidate must have the following:
  • Windows system administration experience
  • Current DoD 8570 (Security Plus), baseline information assurance tech II certification or better
  • Windows Server 2008R2 or newer experience
  • Experience supporting systems in a DoD classified environment
