General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Advanced Underwater Unmanned Vehicles Systems Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. Key Responsibilities

The Senior Advanced Underwater Unmanned Vehicles Systems Engineer will analyze, design, develop and test General Dynamics Mission Systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort. Additional Responsibilities include formulating operational concepts; performing mission, functional, cost-benefit and risk analysis; selecting systems architecture; and preparing specifications for General Dynamics Mission Systems operating systems to ensure designs meet applicable specifications. These individuals may also be asked to document security on both new and fielded information systems or provide accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical features are considered and functioning properly.

  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices
  • Work with function-based team members (e.g., EE, ME, SW) and other company resources, to identify technical solutions that meet product requirements and to ensure technical success of the effort
  • Assist in the development of key project documents to include test plans, procedures, final reports, requirements specifications, integration plans and reports, verification cross reference matrix, verification and validation reports
  • Manage and troubleshoot interdisciplinary integration issues
  • Support engineering design reviews
  • Participate in system integration and test
  • Brief technical conclusions to leadership and peers

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.

The Senior Advanced Underwater Unmanned Vehicles Systems Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Systems, Electrical, Computer Engineering or in a related specialized area, field or the equivalent and at least five to ten years of related work experience. Applicants with a master's degree in Systems, Electrical, Computer Engineering or in a related specialized area, field or the equivalent and a minimum of three to two years of related experience are also eligible.

Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is desired at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

The successful candidate should have:
  • Experience with designing, building, integrating, and testing Unmanned Vehicle Systems, preferably with Remotely Operated Vehicle systems
  • Familiarity with the Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle including Systems Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Test Readiness Review, Production Readiness Review
  • Experience flowing down requirements specifications and generating architecture documents
  • Knowledge in development of requirements specifications
  • Experience with simulation and modeling of complex systems
  • Experience with test plan development, developing and conducting tests for requirements verification, and documentation of test results into formal deliverable reports
