General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Operations team. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to design and development the systems, processes and tools that support internal and client operations. Senior Mechanical Engineers perform design and development in areas such as mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, structures and heat transfer. Their work assists General Dynamics Mission Systems development, production and delivery of unique and highly reliable mechanical, electromechanical, electronic, optical systems, instruments, controls, and machines, many of which operate in an underwater environment.
Candidates must demonstrate a passion for innovation, an understanding of systems engineering and analysis, and the ability to effectively develop and evolve General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer position requires either a masters degree with two years of related experience, or a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of related experience or a degree and experience in a closely related specialized area with three years of experience.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance may be required for some positions. Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Good communication and writing skills are a must. Most work is performed in a team invironment.
