What is the purpose of the role?
To lead a technical operational team providing specialist ICA support to West London and Guildford water production areas, ensuring that agreed compliance and service levels are achieved now and in the future. This will incorporate both day to day preventative and reactive maintenance as well as specific technical projects.
The technical team leader role is unique to this area of Thames Water so you the successful candidate will have the opportunity to stand out from the crowd and make a practical difference to the development of your team. We are looking for a manager with a technical focus, whom is supportive and hands on. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone in an ICA role to take a step up into a technical management role or indeed for a manager with a technical background to embark on a new role.
The Team Leader will:
Be responsible for the management and support of the team, ensuring they achieve agreed objectives; providing leadership and development with a technical focus.
Work with the team to improve employee engagement and ensure there is a strong focus within the team on health and safety.
Use technical knowledge to assist in the implementation of business and technical developments and projects to improve business performance.
Take a lead in developing policies, standards, systems and processes and provide the business with guidance and support relating to your relevant technical speciality.
Liaise with key stakeholders and build relationships that will lead to improved business performance.
If applicable you will apply commercial acumen in managing your contractors and suppliers to deliver the best value solution through an agreed programme of work
Monitor and report on team's performance against key performance indicators and other relevant measures, taking corrective action or providing support as required.
We are looking for a degree, ONC/HNC or equivalent in a field related to technical specialty in a related discipline and some practical experience as an ICA technician. We are looking for a passionate manager who is able to engage and inspire a team of experienced ICA technicians to manage and develop them from a technical viewpoint. Therefore we are looking for strong people management and leadership skills either in a similar management role or by demonstrating these skills within an ICA role. You will have strong communication skills (both written and verbal). As well as this you will be fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems or similar as well as being a confident user of Microsoft Office software. Due to the nature of this role a full, clean UK driving licence is required.
This role is based at Hampton Water Treatment Works, Middlesex, but will also cover the West London and Guildford areas. We are offering a salary of between £36,465 and £49,335, depending on skills and experience, plus an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave, pension scheme and a host of other flexible benefits.
