What is the purpose of the role?
The purpose of this role is to carry out planned inspections of Thames Water assets across a specified work area. You will be working alongside an independent party to deliver a planned programme and to work with the wider business to ensure statutory compliance is met. To undertake condition and risk based inspections of Thames Water waste network assets and generate related reports.
This opportunity will give the successful candidate the chance to work within the prestigious Trunk sewer and Strategic pumping stations across and beneath London. The Asset inspection team are looking for a self-motivated, physically fit person capable of working on their own and forming part of an H&S confined space entry team. You will be responsible for inspection and reporting on the Trunk Sewer and Strategic pumping station assets in line with the PUWER and LOLER regulations. You will be required to work alongside and report any H&S issues to the operations teams, making key judgements and recommending appropriate solutions.
You will use company systems to capture and communicate asset information including serviceability.
You will work alongside an independent party to carry out planned programmes of inspection ensuring that asset compliance and maintenance activities are completed on schedule.
You will operate plant and equipment ensuring compliance with current standards and regulations.
You will ensure that all asset data held on the British Engineering Services database is available and up to date.
Successful candidates will need the appropriate level of education / qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2 / City & Guilds / GCSE) a qualifications in Statutory Compliance, Lifting Equipment Inspections along with a mechanical understanding and knowledge would be desirable. Experience within the field of Statutory Compliance & Lifting Equipment Inspections essential and a good knowledge of IT skills, Windows, Excel, Word and Outlook. You will need a working knowledge of H&S systems and procedures, experience of audits / inspections and or quality control. Excellent written and verbal communications are a must and you must be able to generate reports to a high standard, along with having the ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative. A relevant qualification in Health and Safety is advantageous and due to the nature of the role a valid UK driving licence is required.
This role is based at our Wick Lane Depot, East London and is offering a salary between £23,000 and £30,000, depending on skills and experience.
