What is the purpose of the role?
The primary objective of the role will be to ensure that all equipment associated with our pumping stations are running safely and efficiently using both proactive and reactive maintenance methods. Working within the Maintenance team you will follow robust maintenance Plan as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer/Technician to join the UK's largest Water Company and join the Operations Team. This role will be to guarantee the maintenance of mechanical and electrical processes in a manner that will ensure the highest reliability on our assets at our sewage pumping stations. To be successful in this role as Maintenance Engineer, you should have completed a time served apprentice with experience in fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate on mechanical & electrical plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
The Technician will:
Be working in a small multi discipline team.
Carry out scheduled planned maintenance work on electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures in order to minimize plant breakdowns.
Investigate the nature of plant failures and subsequently carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to avoid interruptions to the process.
Carry out the repair and maintenance of electrical motor drive systems and associated control systems including Inverter drives.
Investigate and diagnose complex faults and carry out repairs during incidents.
Provide technical advice where appropriate; making reference to up to date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
Ensure the Health & Safety of you, colleagues, visitors and members of the public are excellent at all times.
Work according to good housekeeping procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Demonstrate positive attitudes and behaviours. Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training.
Ideally we are looking for an M&E Engineer ideally with a completed Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in Electrical Engineering, NVQ or C&G level 3 in Electrical Engineer. For individuals that are single skilled, we will look to develop right people to cross / upskilled status. Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry would be beneficial for this role, although not essential. The work will require physical fitness; so you will need the ability to work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training. Due to the nature of the role a valid driving licence is essential and as the post will work across a number of sites in the region.
This role is field based, working out of Maple Lodge Sewage Treatment Works, Rickmansworth. We are offering a salary of between £26,180 and £35,420, depending on skills and experience. Participation in a 24/7 Out of Hours Standby rota (typically 1 week in 6) will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment, for which you will receive an additional payments and overtime if required.
