BHP Billiton's Marketing activities are undertaken through a centralised Marketing organisation with a network of offices across the world supporting our major customer markets and the distribution of product from our operations. A majority of Marketing staff are located in Asia with Singapore being the primary hub office.

The newly created Analysis team within the Group Functions & Marketing Finance Business Partnership houses the Working Capital program. The Analysis team also assists the broader finance business partners and value coaches, to enable front line conversations and to support the business to drive a step change in productivity.

We are currently seeking a Specialist who will report to the Manager Finance Business Partnership Analysis. You will be responsible for the provision of commercial insights, in depth analysis and strategic thinking that will enable value based decision making. Focused on the commercial operations' value levers, you will partner with finance value coaches and the business to support and evaluate decision making that drives group profitability and optimizes the balance sheet. You will coach and influence key stakeholders in order to improve the quality of business decisions at an acceptable level of risk.


  • Develop advanced analytics to identify value opportunities, draw insights from analytical modelling to assist finance business partners and value coaches to drive a step change in productivity including working capital improvement
  • Lead engagement with various stakeholders across Group Functions and Regions to monitor and report progress with Group working capital improvement targets.
  • Responsible for identifying, validating and driving improvement projects, cost savings initiatives and sharing insights with stakeholders and through the organisation wide business partner network
  • Support development of financial tools and models required to understand value propositions specifically impacting the group's balance sheet and P&L. Proactively and constructively challenge the application of valuation concepts and principles on financial and commercial proposals.
  • Support research and development of a financial performance management framework including principles and guidelines to embed balance sheet considerations in decision making.


To be successful in this role we are ideally looking for someone with a Finance or Consulting background with commodity trading or supply chain experience. A commercially oriented, forward focused approach, with strong analysis and diagnostic skills that allow the identification of the value proposition, value case or productivity opportunity within a business transaction is highly preferred.

A confident self-starter with highly developed engagement skills will ensure you are at ease when working with a range of stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and will enable you to build effective relationships.
