BHP Billiton's Marketing activities are undertaken through a centralised Marketing organisation with a network of offices across the world supporting our major customer markets and the distribution of product from our operations. A majority of Marketing staff are located in Asia with Singapore being the primary hub office.
The newly created Analysis team within the Group Functions & Marketing Finance Business Partnership houses the Working Capital program. The Analysis team also assists the broader finance business partners and value coaches, to enable front line conversations and to support the business to drive a step change in productivity.
We are currently seeking a Specialist who will report to the Manager Finance Business Partnership Analysis. You will be responsible for the provision of commercial insights, in depth analysis and strategic thinking that will enable value based decision making. Through the development of tools focused on the commercial operations' value levers, you will partner with finance value coaches and the business to support and evaluate decision making that drives group profitability and optimizes the balance sheet. You will coach and influence key stakeholders in order to improve the quality of business decisions at an acceptable level of risk.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in this role you need to have a degree in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, and Engineering) or is able to demonstrate strong numerical understanding and reasoning skills to be able to meet the intellectual and technical demands of the role. You need to have a strong modelling skills with the ability to build and develop predictive scenario evaluation models in Microsoft Excel. A solid understanding of valuation, investment and financing concepts gained working in banking or consulting roles is required to influence and challenge the stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills to translate complex model outcomes in simplified messages to key stakeholders and that enable you to build effective relationships. A commercially oriented, forward focused approach, with strong analysis and diagnostic skills that allow the identification of the value proposition, value case or productivity opportunity within a business transaction is highly preferred.
You will need to be enthusiastic, confident, proactive self-starter with an inquisitive, analytical yet practical approach who is able to work autonomously and as part of a team to address and resolve issues.
