The mechanic, will report to Fleet Superintendent, and will perform all required fleet preventative maintenance, maintenance, repairs and warranty recoveries. Your responsibilities as a Mechanic will include:All required fleet preventative maintenance, maintenance, repairs and warranty NA and calibration of sanders (spreaders) to meet MTO salt and sand (pre-wet) specifications and verification of subcontractors' NA vehicle safety inspections in compliance with current Carillion policy. Ensuring the safe, legal and efficient status and use of Carillion equipment and also subcontractors' NA of trucks for sanding and plowing operations in compliance with CVOR NA of equipment to meet ongoing daily operation requirements such as patrolling, spreading/plowing, sweeping, bridge washing, all safety and legal requirements (i.e. transportation and environmental) and the AMC contractual NA the security of the Mechanic's vehicle and onboard tools and equipment. Monitoring and maintaining all required equipment parts stock, such as controllers, sensors, NA purchase orders, work orders, maintenance repair reports and preventative maintenance schedules in a timely, efficient NA that local equipment files are current and NA other duties as directed by the Superintendent, Construction & Operations/Manager, Infrastructure & Environment and/or Carillion's Fleet NA satisfactorily all maintenance and emergency assignments in a manner that promotes cost effective operations, staff co-operation and ensures that assignments are performed in a safe manner and environment at all times. This means that you will occasionally receive calls at home during off-duty hours for equipment problems that require your direction or presence to correct. As Mechanic you will be expected to:Have a sound working knowledge of safety policies, current legislation and procedures and the ability to ensure that the AMC contract equipment requirements are being NA the ability to diagnose problems and schedule work in priority NA the ability to work independently with little or no NA a high level of communication with the Superintendent, Construction & Operations/Manager, Infrastructure & Environment, Patrol Supervisors, Foremen and other co-workers, Fleet Manager and Equipment and Transport NA with private sector supply and repair facilities to ensure optimum equipment readiness, and that appropriate repairs and maintenance are completed on time and cost NA available for overtime and "on call" duties when necessary due to operational NA helpful and friendly at all times to members of the public, property owners, members of Public Agencies, Ministry of Transportation staff and officials, etc. Knowledge and Applied SkillsClass S and Class T Mechanics' licensesDZ License in good standingExperience in Provincial and/or Municipal Highway Maintenance or related field is preferredWilling to work shifts when required due to scheduled operationsDocumented proof of Worker or Supervisor health and safety awareness training, as applicable (as per Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations).
