Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for data analysis and initial preparation of deliverables to contribute to the completion of an engagement. Works with limited to moderate supervision and/or may lead a small effort or project team. Key responsibilities including consulting, managing sub-contract relationships as required, utilize industry knowledge, project delivery, and project management. Consulting duties include: ensure individual contributions are aligned with client needs and consistent with overall engagement objectives; understand and consistently meet client expectations within scope of engagement role by responding promptly and professionally to their inquiries; apply Black & Veatch project control and management methodology to meet the specific needs of the client and engagement demands; ensure Black & Veatch contractual and financial metrics are met, including as sold PGM; review and prepare invoices. Manage sub-contract relationships duties include: conduct situation analysis through client interviews and document research to determine the business strengths and weaknesses to identify preliminary engagement priorities; may have matrix management responsibilities for resources on a project. Utilizing industry knowledge includes: apply detailed knowledge of a distinct area of expertise to produce work products; develop and present recommendations and alternatives to the client by leveraging technical or functional knowledge or prior experience in the chosen business area; use expertise to integrate findings from research and develops alternative solutions; present alternatives and recommendations to client or team; proactively develop additional knowledge applicable to the area of expertise. Project Delivery duties include: manage the delivery of simple to moderately complex projects or act in project control / assistant project manager role in delivering complex projects; identify and assess risks and lead mitigation strategies; escalate significant issues to appropriate engagement management; manage the development of a project plan for team or sub-engagement; raise scope change concerns to management based on the contractual terms of the engagement. Management responsibilities mean that the person acts as an individual contributor and may act in a capacity of a "lead person". This position does not have management responsibility for the people to whom work direction is provided.
Master's degree in Business Administration (with concentration in Finance or Supply Chain), Computer Science, or related, plus four years of related experience. In the alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (with concentration in Finance or Supply Chain), Computer Science, or related, plus six years of related experience. Must have experience in project management of projects in the utilities industry of $10 million or more. Must have experience with Oracle Financial Systems, MS Access, MS Power Business Intelligence, Excel, MS Project, Visio, Powerpoint, or comparable tools. Must have experience with vendor management, financial scope controls, schedule management, status reporting. Must have proficient technical knowledge in one or more of the following target industries: water and power. Must be willing to travel to project sites up to 100% of the time.
