About this Role:

My client is a Regional Civil Engineering Contractor with an estimated annual turnover of Circa £125M, and several strategically located offices in the UK.

Due to recent expansion and growth in they are looking to engage a Contracts Manager to oversee projects in the South East of England from the start through to completion, ensuring that work is completed on time and within its budget.

As a Contracts Manager, you could be working on a wide variety of Civil Engineering projects, from Highways improvement works, Coastal Defence Schemes, River and Marine, Water & Waste etc.

You may be in charge of a single scheme, or may look after several smaller ones. At all times, you are a crucial point of contact for members of the public, clients, Site Managers and Sub-Contractors for as long as the contract lasts.

The key requirements of this role are to:
Ensure that projects under their control align with the business requirements in terms of the companies health and safety, quality, and environmental practices.
Deliver a strong culture of competent cost management, including the adoption of appropriate practices and procedures to manage operational expenditure effectively.
Support the development and performance of staff under their control, attending site regularly and providing leadership for project teams.
Contribute to the development of new and existing customer relationships.
Attend customer pre start and progress meetings, providing senior representation and taking responsibility for the resolution of any large scale issues requiring senior support.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong leadership, be technically sound with strong commercial acumen and have excellent communication skills.

Reporting to the Area Director, you will be working on projects in the South East Region, and projects typically range from £500,000 to £5M in value, although they occasionally undertake projects in the £10M range.

The Requirements:

BSc or equivalent in Civil Engineering
Principal Contractor background
10+ years or significant Civil Engineering delivery experience
Ideally Chartered CEng MICE
