Our client is one of Europe's largest and most innovative manufacturers of specialist plastic mouldings for the Residential, Commercial, Civils and Infrastructure sectors. With over 20,000 product lines, supported by a fleet of over 400 vehicles and a substantial workforce they have developed a deep understanding of their market sectors. They conceive, design and manufacture a wide range of complex systems for all aspects of the construction industry, around a core offer of plastic components.

At their site in Kent, they have an exciting opportunity for a Material Development / Process Engineer, reporting to the Extrusion and Mixing Production Manager.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the identification and implementation of cost reduction opportunities relating to the development of polymer material formulations, and mixing process improvement and support.

This role would be based predominantly within the Mixing Department but with a requirement to offer process support within our Extrusion and Injection Moulding areas.

Applicants will require commitment, reliability, good timekeeping and the ability to work on their own initiative. Previous plastics processing experience, including mixing, or qualifications relating to polymer materials / science will be essential for any applicant.

The successful candidate will require:

• A good understanding of the properties and characteristics of polymers relating to plastics processing.
• A reasonable understanding of Mixing, Extrusion and Injection Moulding processes.
• An ability to implement and drive continuous improvement activities relating to the development of materials and mixing processes.
• Knowledge of British Standards compliance and testing requirements relating to the plastics processing sector.
• Good communication skills and the confidence to develop internal and external relationships.
