The client:

Our client is a leading manufacturer of plastic products for the FMCG market.

The role:

The role of Production Manager is to lead the team through excellence by managing a department through clear and concise instruction and communication. You will be responsible for the smooth running of the Injection moulding department.

Key areas-
⦁ Health and Safety; operate within and help maintain, monitor and drive forward Health and Safety practices and ethos.
⦁ Production: ensure the efficient running of production lines and site services Maintenance: develop and adhere to planned maintenance programme Continuous Improvement: contribute to ongoing continuous improvement projects
⦁ Quality: ensure parts are manufactured to the correct standards and component quality
⦁ Administration: ensure that site records and reports are maintained and kept up to date
⦁ To be responsible for all activity within the Injection Moulding department.
⦁ To assist the Operations Director in setting production targets and ensuring that these targets are met.
⦁ To plan and supervise the activities of the Shift Technicians and Assistants, including arranging the shift rota arranging holiday/sickness cover where necessary.
⦁ To implement Preventive maintenance plans and arranges all service visits to keep machines in optimum working condition. If needed to be on site call for maintenance on the machines at request.
⦁ Introduce new equipment with an aim of cost reduction and reducing labour content on the shifts.
⦁ To ensure that all production meets the agreed quality standards including testing, new product introduction and ensuring all of our ISO quality standards are adhered to.

Technical Skills-
⦁ Coordinate the timely and efficient change-over of production lines from one item to the next, including mould changes, colour changes, plate / cavity changes, assembly / liner changes etc.
⦁ By continued observation, locate and rectify line blockages and machine stoppages.
⦁ Coordinate the rectification of machine breakdowns / stoppages to ensure ongoing production.
⦁ Any other task deemed reasonable for the role.

Problem Solving-
⦁ Identifying and analysing faults causing machine stoppages or under performance, and making repairs/improvements.

Quality, Compliance & Administration-
⦁ Adherence to all quality controlled documents, policies and procedures including SWP, SOP and WI's
⦁ Ensure parts are manufactured to the correct standards and component quality
⦁ Maintain quality standards by making necessary adjustments and modifications to machinery
⦁ Hold Notice Corrective Actions
⦁ Line Shutdown Records
⦁ Maintenance Check Records
⦁ PM records

The Person:

⦁ Previous experience managing a busy Injection moulding site
⦁ Ability to Manage, monitor and motivate employees to achieve the Company targets
⦁ Good level of experience in process control and process improvement
⦁ Knowledge of quality standards including ISO9001 and customer requirements
⦁ Must be experienced in maintaining injection moulding machines and changing/replacing moulding tools.
⦁ Must be qualified in a moulding or engineering discipline and be prepared to be hands on in the role.
⦁ Must be fit and active.
⦁ Relevant technical training i.e. polymers
⦁ Knowledge of injection moulding processes, techniques and implementation
⦁ Experience of working in a similar injection moulding environment
⦁ Good analytical and practical skills
⦁ A logical and methodical approach to their duties
