General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Configuration Manager Specialist to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to deliver end-to-end solutions in configuration management, product development and productivity. Key Responsibilities
Configuration Manager Specialists are responsible for developing and maintaining configuration management tools and supporting configuration identification, control, reporting, release and delivery of products and systems. This employee will perform configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new product operating parameters are documented, comply with standards and are logistically sustainable. The work also involves designing, developing, automating and maintaining productivity tools. Additionally, the Configuration Manager Specialist will design and implement build procedures to aid in product creation and use. The development of internal configuration standards and training others to use configuration management tools may also be required.

  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance.
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers' changing business needs.
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems' culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems' services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.
  • Validate and maintain operational control of production systems configuration.
  • Provide software, hardware, and documentation configuration management support to include planning, identification, control, status reporting, auditing and release and delivery of products and systems.
  • Perform change control and configuration audits.
  • Perform build and release management tasks to ensure new product operating releases are documented, and comply with our programs standards and processes.
  • Assist with maintaining and administrating the configuration management tools.
  • Assist in the design, implementation of the build procedures to aid in product creation and use.
  • Responsible for configuration management (CM) of program tasking which includes participating in our Agile Process, Planning and Daily Stand-up Meetings.
  • Perform software builds and releases using program tools (Maven, Jenkins, Bamboo, Nexus, and Docker-containerization Platform)
  • Assist in the administration of source control, build tools, and repositories.
  • Work on developmental and operational teams to create and maintain configuration baselines (development, test, production, etc.) supporting developmental and operational systems releases.
  • Develop or modify CM plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the developmental or operational system.
  • Utilize configuration management tracking, and version control tools (SVN, GIT, Jira, Atlassian Tools) to store, track, and manage software configuration items.
  • Support proposals as needed.
This is a position within a continuous integration environment, for an agile software development program being developed for the Intelligence Community.

Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of configuration management, expertise in productivity tools and procedures, and the ability to effectively manage, grow and evolve General Dynamics Mission Systems' product development and systems.

The Configuration Manager Specialist position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or the equivalent, and five to eight years of related experience; or a Master's degree with three to five years of related experience.

Department of Defense TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
