The client, a family owned boat builder who build bespoke boats and barges are looking for a lead marine engineer with excellent problem solving and diagnostic capabilities together with knowledge of marine electrics, engine management systems and general boat systems to join their team.

The Job
The successful candidate will work unsupervised to the highest standards and have an uncompromising approach to quality of work and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate must have the following skills and experience:
General marine experience including a working knowledge of plumbing and electrical work with 12v and 240v electrics
Knowledge of marine diesel engines and systems ideally Beta Marine/Iveco/Vetus engines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to lead and motivate a team and use your own initiative
Ability to work to close deadlines
Main Duties and Responsibilities include;
Installation of propulsion components, such as shafts, propellers and rudders.
Fitting of fluid power/hydraulic circuits, including the construction of hard and flexible pipe
Installation and alignment of marine engines and gearboxes
Ensuring all mechanical and on board electrical equipment is fully operational at all times
Maintaining an adequate supply of spares and equipment Keeping a clean and tidy workshop
Preparing all boats and their equipment for use prior to client’s arrival
Working off site if required, to maintain a fully working product, i.e. attend customer service calls.
Briefing clients on boats, upon arrival as to functionality of mechanical systems, electrical systems and safety equipment on board
