leading Engineering Consultancy is looking for a Principle C&I Engineer to join their Process Industry Division|
C&I, ATEX, SIL
To provide technical expertise and engineering skills of control and instrumentation (C&I) activities at a Principal Engineers level.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
*To promote technical excellence of the C&I aspects of projects undertaken.
*To operate as a lead C&I engineer on assigned projects.
*Control of discipline hours budget and cost of works on allocated projects.
*Responsible for ensuring cost effective innovative designs are produced.
*To provide site and sales support, including the development of proposals.
*Specification of equipment and installations relating to, performance of calculations for, inspection, testing and commissioning of:
-Programmable electronic systems (PES) including PLC, SCADA, DCS, MIS & LIMS, including the preparation of Control Philosophy and User Requirement Specifications.
-Safety Systems to appropriate SIL rating.
-Field instrumentation including temperature, pressure, level and flow devices.
-Weigh Systems and Analysers.
-Modulating and actuated on/off valves.
-Communications systems and interfacing requirements.
*Preparation of Installation specification and contract schedules.
*Production of C&I drawings using CAD design team.
*Preparation of Enquiries and technical bid analysis.
*Input to P&IDs and taking part in HAZOPs.
*Technical liaison with Suppliers, Package Vendors and Sub-contractors.
*Preparation of Design Safety Reviews and designers risk assessments.
*Input to FEED studies including the preparation of man-hours estimates and CoW for C&I scope.
*Keep up to date with design standards and requirements relating to pharmaceutical/biopharm/food/hazardous area applications.
*To ensure compliance with and adherence to the requirements of the FDA, MHRA for pharmaceutical and Food plants.
*To provide expert advice on GAMP5 and other relevant procedures
*To maintain and develop up-to-date specialist knowledge.
*Assist with continual improvement of C&I department by carrying out technical audits on projects and the development and maintenance of C&I Engineering Design Standards.
Key duties within key areas:
*Program preparation/preparation of man hour estimates/control and monitoring.
*Carry out C & I design work, including:-
-Design concept and layout development,
-Control System URS DOCUMENT,
-Control valve specifications,
-Designing intrinsically safe systems suitable for installation within Hazardous areas,
-Preparation of instrumentation equipment list,
-Input into package plant specifications,
-Design of Safety instrumented systems,
-Process hazard studies (inc. HAZOP) and design safety reviews,
-Detail design calculations,
-Generate installation specifications,
-Carry out GAMP5 audits on suppliers,
-Preparation of validation documentation.
*Approval and checking of all C&I design work on allocated projects.
*Ability to make presentations to clients on process design or concept issues.
*Ensure the operation aspects of any design are correct and are understood by other disciplines.
*To coordinate the development of systems & procedures .
*Ability to represent the Company with clients and represent the client in technical discussions with suppliers and other companies
*Required to work as part of a team with minimum supervision both in the design office and on site.
*Be prepared to work on shutdown activities through Bank Holidays on occasions.
* Possibly some overseas travel from time to time.
*Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronic or Computer Engineering (min. 2.2 Hons) or IEE Part 3 equivalent.
*Chartered Engineer (M.I.E.E. or MInstMC).
*Significant experience in the application and specification of PES systems and in the specification and selection of field instrumentation.
*Highly computer literate.
*Ability to work in multidiscipline team and liaise with all disciplines and Client Engineers.
*Detailed knowledge of ATEX and the requirements for hazardous area installations.
*Knowledge of Safety systems/SIL.
*Specific expertise in one or more of the food processing/primary pharmaceutical/secondary pharmaceutical/fine chemicals industries.
*Experience with EPCM contract company.
*Detailed knowledge of GAMP.
*Detailed knowledge of PED.
