Job Description:

Director of Operations Seeking an accomplished and dedicated Director of Operations with experience in the construction of concrete sidewalks. The Operations Manager is responsible for the direction and leadership of our Canadian operation, working closely with the production teams to ensure the highest levels of safety, compliance, service quality, and productivity. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in effectively managing operational strategy, project management, production sequencing, labor efficiencies and delivering quality projects on-time and within budget. Responsibilities: Reviews construction project proposals and plans to gain an understanding of the project requirements (time frame, budget, safety, quality, staffing, materials and equipment requirements) necessary to complete the project within the required time frame Develops an execution plan that outlines staffing, materials, equipment, subcontracting, and other services that are necessary to deliver the project on time and within budget Organizes and conducts meetings with project managers and superintendents to communicate information related to each function's needs concerning project requirements Ensures projects are executed in accordance with designs, budgets and schedules; takes appropriate action to minimize the impact of deviations Monitors and oversees the efficient use of materials and equipment and the contractual performance of the project; confers with project staff to ensure that assigned duties and responsibility are performed per agreed upon expectations Oversees all project management and accounting on concrete projects (project setup, weekly cost & forecasting analysis Prepares written reports and/or updates (internal and external) for management, client, and project team, to ensure a clear understanding of project status Manages and motivates Site Superintendents, Project Managers and all related staff Understands and observe all safety procedures and practices, ensuring employees observe the same safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injuries or damage Required Skills and Experience: 7 to 10 years related experience Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or similar qualification Demonstrates a working knowledge of basic project accounting, project controls (cost, schedule, change management, etc.), material management, contract management, subcontract management, safety, and quality Exhibits strong leadership qualities and abilities; applies innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance Track record of successfully planning and executing multiple competing projects on schedule and within budget Strong client relations, influencing skills and organizational skills Experience with union environments
