Position Overview
A Switchboard Operator is required to work within a busy office environment based Kidderminster, DY10 1QQ
You will be required to provide an efficient and reliable call management service to our Client from a central switchboard which serves four remote sites meeting targeted call response times. Operators will be utilising email, providing administrative support and updating telephone directories.
The successful candidate for the position of Switchboard Operator will be customer focussed, flexible and adaptable, recognising the importance of innovation and continuous improvement.
You will be required to work 20 hours per week, 1pm to 5pm Monday to Friday. Flexibility in covering absence and holidays for other operators is essential.

  • To achieve call handling targets and standards at all times, providing a professional and knowledgeable approach on all calls aiming to exceed customer expectations and meet Key Performance Indicator targets.
  • To keep an accurate internal telephone directory.
  • To maintain accurate data records containing all relevant information to timescales and standards required.
  • To train users in the use of telephones as required.
  • To maintain basic details within the telephone system and update/change automated services.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by the Account Manager or required to ensure the effective delivery of services at all times.

What we are looking for

  • Able to communicate with all levels of callers effectively.
  • Keeps other operators informed and shares knowledge and expertise.
  • Displays a positive attitude to challenges.
  • Able to remain calm in difficult circumstances or when challenged.
  • Previous experience within a busy switchboard environment preferred.
  • Computer literate, particularly in MS Office.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • To contribute to building an effective and cohesive team by taking ownership for own performance, maintaining a positive attitude at all times, meeting attendance requirements and being flexible to meet business requirements as the need arises.
