Purpose of Role
Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, the Commercial Manager role is key to the commercial success of the Facilities Management phase for two privately financed NHS contracts (PFI & PF2).

You will be responsible for risk and opportunity management; managing commercial entitlement; supporting cost control measures; supply chain management; commercial management of the performance mechanism; managing life cycle obligations.

Principal Accountabilities
The Royal Liverpool scheduled to open in 2017 and will include 18 theatres, 23 wards and 646 single bedrooms.

The current hospital will continue to be maintained by Carillion and will be partially demolished once the new development is completed. Midland Metropolitan Hospital is due to open in the later part of 2018.

The new seven-storey hospital will be located on a 16-acre brownfield site in Grove Lane, Smethwick, and is expected to provide capacity for around 81,500 inpatients and 115,000 outpatients every year. It will have about 670 beds, 15 operating theatres a fully enclosed winter garden and car parking within the hospital building on the ground and first floors to create a secure environment for both patients and staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved during the construction phase of two PPP procured hospitals with a key focus on the success of the Facilities Management phase.

Being involved in the projects at an early stage, the commercial manager will be required to influence the design and construction team in order to maximise the potential of (and minimise risk to) the Facilities Management phase and for the wider Carillion business.

Construction Phase: Calibrating the transfer of risk to supply-chain and supporting procurement activities Tracking construction variations / design derogations and impact on paymech risk and contract price Maximising growth opportunities Mobilisation lead for the commercial work-stream for the FM stage Facilities Management Phase: Risk and opportunity management Managing commercial entitlement Supporting cost control measures Supply-chain management Commercial management of the performance mechanism Managing life-cycle obligations

From a QS background, the Commercial Manager will ideally have experience in the health sector and be familiar with PFI/PF2 contracts.
