Melbreck is working with a leading Design and build specialist who create Sustainable Green Spaces and Buildings throughout the UK from their hub in Oxfordshire.|
Du to sustained sales growth and a demand for their services they are looking for a Design Co-ordinator to join their architectural team on a permanent basis ASAP.
The Design Coordinator is responsible for the planning, technical problem solving and design for structure, shell and turn-key projects. Working with the Lead Designers the Design Coordinator will contribute to the delivery of a fully coordinated package of technical drawings, information and specifications for each project.
•To support the Lead Designers to efficiently deliver designated structure, shell and turn-key projects.
•Support design liaison between the clients and their professional team, consultants, sub-contractors, approval bodies etc. including attending and actively participating in design team meetings.
•Estimating - with Lead Designers, support the sales and estimating teams in the preparation of tender submissions with mark-ups and technical advice.
•Technical problem solving - resolution of engineering, material, detailing and building performance queries by suitable investigation, discussion and clear communication of outcome.
•Design for manufacture and site operations using appropriate software systems.
•Materials take off and scheduling including the identification of key lead-times for critical components.
•Provide support - to provide support to the wider business when requested.
•Communication - liaise with internal & external key stakeholders to ensure timely information flow, clarity of delivery from consultants and subcontractors and appropriate engagement with site and factory based parties.
•Quality control - to check - as part of an ongoing quality control process - other design team members and consultants work.
•CDM - ensure consideration of safety and build-ability is integral to the design process, that risks are designed out wherever possible and that residual hazards are effectively communicated to key stakeholders and site based teams.
•Site liaison - visits and meeting attendances as required - attend site or meetings as required to review progress, discuss design and detailing aspects, resolve issues and liaise with client's agents.
•Development - to support the business in the development of standard information, guidance, specifications and software development. Actively identify areas for improvement in business processes.
•Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System at all times, keeping paper and electronic documentation, records and filing up to date.
•Operate with the highest regard to Health & Safety ensuring compliance with the Health & Safety policy.
Qualifications and Experience
Design in a timber frame construction environment
Thorough knowledge of timber frame construction systems
In-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations
Understanding of the principles of good project management
Thorough knowledge of the CDM Regulations
AutoCAD user with demonstrable experience using timber frame software.
Good Microsoft Office skills
HND/C or Degree in a construction related discipline OR demonstrable equivalent experience.
Client facing skills
Appropriate CSCS health and Safety card
